2. The property management was very responsive regarding inquiries.

Cons:
1. Dusty rooms and the kitchen was not clean. Encountered with lots of spiders and spider webs.

2. Internet quality was awful. Worst internet that I have experienced compare to the other cabins I rented. The internet quality was worse on second floor as well as when multiple users try to use internet. This could be caused by old router/wireless access point which could be upgraded by owner.

TV in the living room and the TVs on the bed rooms were outdated (no smart TV)

4. No window blinders on some rooms.

The rental was cozy and comfortable!Bedrooms were spacious and beds were very comfortable !Kitchen has everything you could ever need! We had a party of 9 and the hot water never ran out! Huge love for that!!!Super awesome that you could sled and snow play right out the back door!!!

This was our second family Holliday at Spencer Cabin. From our youngest age 3 to our oldest age 76, our four generations enjoyed the setting kand space. It was a great getaway. The cabin is clean but lived in, ideal for families with young, rambunctious children

If you are looking for a cabin in the woods that will sleep 8 adults and all the kids, this is the place. The cabin was clean and comfortable.

Our family stayed in the Spencer cabin for our son's wedding. We had 4 married couples and 4 kids 4 and under. The cabin was more than big enough for all of us. Not often do you get a choice of 4 king sized beds! plus more. We hosted a brunch the day after the wedding and had more than enough room for all to sit and eat. The only draw backs would be a little mold build up in the master bath upstairs, cobwebby windows and the kitchen stove really needs to be replaced. The burners do not all work properly.

Great location and plenty of parking. Spacious place with lots of bedding (4 king beds!). Was disappointed with the stove, original installation (antiquated) with only one of the four burners that would work.

Location was convenient. House was in OK shape. Beds / Furniture / Kitchen Appliances / carpets /paint / floors need attention and updating. Phones did not work. Mgmt was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves. Thanks

We stayed there Christmas Season 2024 and loved it so much we went back again for Christmas 2025. It has easy access to hiking and outdoor activities. It is close enough to sundries and restaurants without being on the major highway and subject to the road noises.

This was our second stay at Squirrel Away. We love that they are pet friendly, have A/C and are close to everywhere we wanted to go. The two couches in the lvg room are very comfy as well. I wouldn’t hesitate to book another stay here.

This is the perfect place for you to get away from it all and enjoy the finer things the outdoors has to offer like hiking, skiing, and even wine tasting if you're so inclined. The neighborhood is incredibly quiet, secluded, and friendly while being close enough to all the things you want to do in the area. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

This property was totally clean and the posted photos are accurate. Plus the management was very thoughtful; they even turned on the A/C so the house was nicely cool before we arrived. (The weather was unusually hot). The little lake was lovely & also thoughtfully set up for small children. Our friends own a house a block away & close to Sequoia Woods, so the neighborhood is perfect for us as well! I will encourage other friends to rent this little house too! Thank you!

We visited for three nights to ski at Bear Valley. We had never been to Arnold before and we loved it. The house is perfectly suited for a family and my kids loved the bunk beds. Our kids are 3, 5, and 7 years old. I would say that older kids may find the accommodations a bit tight. But for a younger family it’s perfect. We would highly recommend and hope to visit next time in the summer.

This is one of the only VRBOs that I have stayed in that had every single kitchen appliance and spice you could think of. It made cooking so easy. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay again.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Squirrel Away Haven Cabin. Arnold is a nice city. We were in love with the Giant Sequoias at Calaveras State Park, and we also went to Railtown 1897, where my son had a great time seeing the trains. All the family enjoyed snow around the Bear Valley Co. We missed the caves close to Arnold, and want to return and stay at the same place. The cabin is spotless, and the kitchen is well-equipped. We left wishing to stay longer. We had a memorable Christmas.

We were right next door to our sister, who was hosting the Celebration of Life for husband, Ken Davis who recently passed. It was perfect - comfortable, warm and cozy! We loved our time at Squirrel Away Haven!

Great amenities! The BBQ is the bomb. The lake is small so excellent for kids and relaxing time from parents. Lovely environment and amazing vibe! We relaxed and enjoyed this place.

My family of 4, including two kids ages 6 and 9, were comfortable here over the long holiday weekend. The kids enjoyed the books and games and were comfortable in the bunk beds. The kitchen was well organized with everything needed for meal preparation. The master bed was quite firm. The heating kept us toasty. We didn't have any issues with our sensitive allergies. The place was very clean, and communication with Sierra Vacation Rentals was prompt and friendly. Thanks!

Very quiet and peaceful area, comfortable and clean cabin, included use of nearby Pinebrook lake, Property manager was very responsive to questions. Was more than ample room for 2 of us, and would be comfortable for 2-3 more. But 8 people would be tight fit. Loved the well treed lot and privacy. Would stay there again and recommend to friends. Be aware there is NO air conditioning and it was in the 90’s while we were there. Ceiling fans and standing room fans did make it bearable, if all windows were closed up early.

Cabin was clean, organized, comfortable, and in a peaceful place. My kids binge-watched a few Netflix shows and there were fun games and legos to keep them very happy. We loved the close proximity to some amazing hiking trails and the local swimming hole was amazing. We may make this an annual tradition.

Rented through VRBO and the description was inaccurate and house in disrepair.
Rented it because it advertised AC. But it broke so we didn’t have any. And when we contacted we were told to shut it off for 30 min and try again. When we let them know that didn’t work, they said they couldn’t get any service to call them back probably due to it being Saturday night, and that it’s cooled off nicely so open the windows.
Oven had food burnt onto it, BBQ was dirty and rusted, 2 of the beds had bloodstains on the sheets, one comforter had a mystery brown stains on it, and the beds were described as queens, and the one in the only private room to be considered a “master bedroom” was a full. Nails on the deck were sticking up catching our clothes and tripping us. One also cut one of our feet.
The worse part about it was the lack of communication.
When we checked out Monday morning we got a response of, “did the ac ever start working? We didn’t hear from you.” It wasn’t our job to reach out to get an update or let you know it was still not working after we already did. We should have been informed on if someone was or wasn’t coming out, and even just checked on.

Nice location and clean. Beds were not very comfortable and could have used more blankets. Beds were also very bouncy. Nice living room for gathering with family around the beautiful fireplace. There was a well-supplied kitchen with many utensils. Good neighborhood.

Cabin is beautiful, the setting is fantastic. Very private and at the end of a cul de sac so very little traffic. Very quiet. Fairly well appointed. Could use another baking dish. The only downside is that there are 25 steps down to the front door.

My family & I absolutely loved this cabin! It is beautiful inside and out. Loved how cabin like it is and it is in a beautiful location surrounded my trees. It was our first time in the snow and we loved it. Had a great time playing UNO and watching the fireplace. Thank you!

The house is lovely and easy to find. We were comfortable on the deck. For a house that sleeps so many people, it would be very nice to have more than a couch and two beanbag chairs in the great room. Older people have a hard time getting up out of beanbags. The kitchen is well equipped, however, it seemed so wasteful to have to use paper towels to dry our hands and drying dishes with them is impossible. Supplying a few kitchen towels would be a good thing. It was very quiet at night, perfect for sleeping. The stairs down to the house are steep and difficult for elderly people. Impossible for disabled people.

A nice cabin, well maintained and in a great location. The area was quiet and serene. It is located just minutes from the Big Trees State Park. The walk through the park is magnificent.

This rental was very nice. Spacious and roomy for the family. The kitchen was well supplied with what was needed, also neat and clean. The three bedrooms with the two bathrooms worked out great! The outside deck was cozy and refreshing. A big bonus we all loved was the wild life that came thru the grounds each evening. Quite a few deer with fawns and even a couple of young bucks. A very restful and quiet place.

We had a wonderful weekend stay in June. Loved this vacation home - lots of space and beautiful deck! Only negative was no AC, and it was in the 90’s during the day.

It was a beautiful cabin located on a quiet cul-de-sac, and had a beautiful wood-burning fireplace! We had such a lovely time! The cabin was clean and had beautiful touches in lots of storage, we will definitely be back!

The cabin spacious and lovely with plenty of distance from neighbors, as advertised. Our only concerns were that the kitchen supplies were limited: no sharped knives, no can opener and few serving bowls. The garbage was full from the last occupants. There was very little toilet paper & only a third of a roll of paper towels.

Lovely house in good condition. Great window and fireplace framing forest view. Easy to get to sledding and the grocery store. Very quiet neighborhood, at most you’ll see some people walking dogs around.

The house was wonderful, as described, and very clean. The back deck was especially peaceful, amazing view of the stars. For those that like to get out Calaveras Big Trees park is only a couple scenic miles up the road, also a great tavern that way called The Lube Room (keep it PG people ;) with delicious burgers and a great outside back area set up for live music. A couple miles before the cabin there is also the Snowshoe Brewery, also fun and great food. This cabin is abundant on privacy, relaxation, and great views. Sheila is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. Would highly recommend.

The property was beautiful, clean, and in a great location. Lots of walks through the neighborhood. About 25 min to Bear Valley Resort/Ski area.

The house was great, warm and welcoming. Perfect location to be out in the woods and play in the snow. The kitchen was missing a few basic items such as a spatula, second knife, second cutting board, measuring spoons and a measuring cup. Overall the house was very relaxing and well kept.
